MoU between the University of Kelaniya and the Institute of Internal Auditors Lanka Chapter

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Kelaniya and The Institute of Internal Auditors Lanka Chapter (IIALC) on 22nd of February 2021 at the University of Kelaniya (UoK).

The objective of the MoU is to promote and nurture Auditing and Forensic Accounting Education and the practice the Auditing and Forensic Accounting in Sri Lanka with special emphasis on Internal Auditing by capitalizing on the strengths of both institutions. In essence, both institutions envisage to derive synergistic benefits of human and physical resources. In addition, this MoU will facilitate sharing of resources and to conduct joint research.

Further, members of IIA Lanka Chapter have the opportunity to participate in seminars, workshops and conferences conducted by University of Kelaniya on Audit and Forensic Accounting and related themes/topics. IIA Lanka Chapter and the Department of Accountancy of the University may jointly conduct seminars/workshops for the business community to make them aware on contemporary developments in Auditing & Forensic Accounting as a measure of corporate social responsibility activities. Further the 2 institutions also envisage to design and implement continuous professional development programs for the benefit of members, academics and students.

Moreover, University of Kelaniya will also offer placements in its Master of Business in Accounting / Master of Business in Finance post-graduate degree programs to IIASL members. Our members may also have the opportunity to become a part of the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and the Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) of the Department of Accountancy at University of Kelaniya.

The event was dignified with the presence of Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor – University of Kelaniya, Dr. P. N. D. Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Dr. Kamal Tilakasiri, Head – Department of Accountancy, Brian Goudian, President – IIALC, Mr. D.S. Manamendra, Vice President – IIALC, Prasenna Balachandra, immediate past president and Governor, and academic staff members of the DoA.
