Institute of Internal Auditors – Creating new pathways to opportunities.
The institute of internal auditors - Sri Lanka, hosted their 2nd National Internal Audit Conference, under the theme “Enhancing Knowledge- A pathway to opportunities”, at the Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo on the 11th of November 2009. This year’s event saw an eminent panel of foreign and local speakers, whilst the key note address was delivered by Mr. Udayasri Kariyawasam, Chairman - Securities & Exchange Commission. This year’s Highlights were presentations on Forensic Accounting and Fraud delivered by internationally renowned speaker Mr. Ranjit Singh, Managing Director of Columbus Advisory, Malaysia, Data Migration, by Suresh D, also renowned speaker from, Malaysia. Local speakers included Mr.Mukhlis Ismail, Head of Group Risk & Control - Jhon Keells Holdings and Mr. Dharshana De Silva, Group Internal Auditor - Prima Group Sri Lanka. The national conference is one of the many initiatives by IIA Sri Lanka in promoting and developing the internal audit profession in the country. IIA Globally has over 250 affiliates that serve close to 160,000 members. Mr. Dharshana De Silva, President IIASL stated “Any internal audit professional should have a goal of joining IIA, the knowledge and experience that is shared not only would enhance one’s capabilities, but also create a whole new world of opportunities for personal growth and development”. The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is an internationally recognised certification that is offered by IIA among many others, as well as locally conducted workshops, seminars and technical sessions for members.
