1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Institute of Internal Auditors Sri Lanka’s website, membership services, training programmes, events, and related services. By accessing our website or registering for membership, training programmes, Annual Conference, or other services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, unless the context otherwise requires:
- “Annual Conference” means the official annual conference organised or hosted by IIA Sri Lanka.
- “Annual Membership Subscription Fee” means the annual fee payable by a member to maintain active membership status.
- “Event” means any conference, seminar, workshop, networking event, meeting, forum, webinar, or any other activity organised, co-organised, or facilitated by IIA Sri Lanka.
- “Institute”, “IIA Sri Lanka”, “IIASL”, “we”, “our”, or “us” means the Institute of Internal Auditors Sri Lanka.
- “Member” means any individual whose application for membership has been approved by IIA Sri Lanka and whose membership remains valid in accordance with the Institute’s membership requirements.
- “Membership” means the status granted by IIA Sri Lanka that entitles an approved individual to receive membership benefits subject to these Terms and Conditions.
- “New Membership Registration Fee” means the one-time fee payable by a new applicant upon joining IIA Sri Lanka, where applicable.
- “Payment Gateway” means the third-party electronic payment processing platform authorised by IIA Sri Lanka to facilitate online payment transactions.
- “Services” means all membership services, events, training programmes, publications, examinations, online services, and any other services offered by IIA Sri Lanka.
- “Training Programme” means any educational programme, workshop, seminar, webinar, certification preparation course, continuing professional education (CPE) activity, or other learning event organised or facilitated by IIA Sri Lanka.
- “Website” means the official website of the Institute of Internal Auditors Sri Lanka and any associated online portals operated by the Institute.
3. Eligibility
Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to apply for membership, register for training programmes, Annual Conference, or use the services provided by IIA Sri Lanka. By registering, you confirm that all information provided is accurate, complete, and up to date. IIA Sri Lanka reserves the right to reject or cancel any registration or membership application where false or misleading information has been provided.
4. Membership
Membership is subject to approval by IIA Sri Lanka. Membership benefits are non-transferable and must be renewed annually by payment of the prescribed annual subscription fee.
5. Membership Fees and Other Charges
Fees payable may include New Membership Registration Fees, Annual Membership Subscription Fees, Training Programme Fees, Workshop, Seminar, Conference and Event Registration Fees, Annual Conference Registration Fees, and any other fees approved by IIA Sri Lanka. Registration is confirmed only upon receipt of payment.
6. Overpayments
Any excess amount paid towards membership subscription fees will be credited to the member’s account and carried forward to the next membership renewal period. Credits may only be carried forward for one subsequent membership year and are generally non-refundable.
7. Training Programmes and Events
Registration for training programmes, workshops, seminars, conferences, Annual Conference, and other events is subject to availability. IIA Sri Lanka reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, modify, or cancel any programme or event where necessary.
8. Payments
Payments may be made through approved payment methods in Sri Lanka Rupees specified by IIA Sri Lanka. Members and participants are responsible for ensuring that payment information provided is accurate and valid.
9. Refund Policy
Membership registration fees and annual membership subscription fees are generally non-refundable. Refunds relating to training programmes, Annual Conference, or events will be subject to the applicable refund policy.
10. Payment Gateway Liability Disclaimer
IIA Sri Lanka may utilise the services of an independent third-party payment gateway to facilitate online payments.
While IIA Sri Lanka makes reasonable efforts to engage reputable payment service providers, the Institute shall not be responsible or liable for:
- any interruption, delay, failure, or unavailability of the payment gateway;
- technical errors, system failures, or communication failures affecting payment processing;
- declined, unsuccessful, duplicated, or delayed payment transactions caused by the payment gateway, issuing bank, card provider, or other financial institution;
- any security breach, fraud, or unauthorised transaction occurring within the systems of the third-party payment gateway, except where such liability is imposed by applicable law.
Users are responsible for verifying that payment has been successfully completed. If a payment is debited from a bank account or payment card but confirmation is not received from IIA Sri Lanka, the user should promptly contact the Institute and provide supporting payment evidence for investigation.
Any refund arising from duplicate or erroneous payments shall be processed in accordance with the Institute’s Refund Policy after verification.
11. Intellectual Property
All content, training materials, publications, presentations, logos, trademarks, and other intellectual property are owned by or licensed to IIA Sri Lanka.
12. User Conduct
Users shall not engage in unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or disruptive activities while using the website or participating in Institute programmes.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of Sri Lanka, IIA Sri Lanka shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss or damage arising from the use of the Website, Membership, Services, Training Programmes, Annual Conference, Events, or any other activities provided by the Institute.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the applicable laws of Sri Lanka.
14. Privacy
Personal information collected by IIA Sri Lanka will be handled in accordance with the Institute’s Privacy Policy and applicable laws and regulations.
15. Amendments
IIA Sri Lanka reserves the right to amend, revise, or update these Terms and Conditions at any time.
16. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
